Sorry for the absence I was at the Not Wedding in Atlanta, then I got a crazy cold, then Tommy and Libby got married, then I had a birthday. So much to do… But now I’m back with lots of eye candy!
Cute, isn’t he?
First off, what is the Not Wedding? Is it like the horrible joke of the 80s (or was it 90s?), where annoying classmates would say, “you’re awesome!” and just when your heart swelled with acceptance, they would shout, “NOOOOOOT!!!”? It is most certainly NOT like that! It is FABULOUS!!!
Here’s the premise: it’s a wedding show, but instead of going from booth to booth a la trade show monotony, the vendors work together to throw a “wedding”. The couple is an actual couple who has already been wed (this one, Lauren and Zac for several years), their friends round out the wedding party, and the “guests” are the bridal show attendants. They get to see what we do best live and in person. Drinks from the bar (with real alcohol), passed hors d’oeuvres (made of actual food), wedding dress, live music, fresh flowers, CAKE. It’s so much fun! And the fiances even appeared to have a good time. Don’t deny it, I’ve seen their faces at the trade show version, it is not their ideal Sunday activity. Thank goodness show season starts well after the Superbowl. Finally, to round out the lovely event, there are three photographers on hand to capture all the fun, beautiful details, and loving glances. It’s really cool to see the same event through the lens of different points of view. Goes to show how important it is to have a photographer’s vision of an event match your own. Though we were lucky, all are very talented!
Today, I’ll share the first photographer’s images to set the scene. The powers-that-be select a color palette and create a mood board to give us a guide, so the entire event flows and looks cohesive. Then the first featured photographer held an “engagement shoot” to give the other vendors a visual idea of the style and look. Whitney Huynh captured these vivid images:
Aren’t they a sweet couple? So cute together. My job for this fun “wedding” was to create the accessories for the men, and the cutest ring bearer ever! (you have to wait till tomorrow to see him, I have to leave you wanting more). I was instantly inspired by the bright colors, warm chunky knits, and I always love stripes. As the coordinator expressed, “we want Kate [Spade], not Lilly [Pulitzer]”. No problem, that would be my preference too!
So dapper! Necktie, batwing self-tie bow ties, and the boutonniere on the right all by French Knot Studios. Suits by The Modern Gent in Atlanta, Georgia. Kate is the ultimate menswear guru, and offers everything from rentals to bespoke suits. And she was a wonderful booth neighbor!
Who doesn’t love beautiful bouquet pictures. And fabulous centerpieces…
